STORM

Hi everyone! Summer vacation has been super fun so far, and last week I finished reading Storm by DJ MacHale. It's the next book in the SYLO series.

The events with SYLO have pretty much ended, but the trouble caused is just beginning. Tucker's family is missing, Quinn is gone, Tori's dad got shot, and Olivia can't contact her mother. Even Kent, who is usually tough, is nervous. While at a hospital fixing up one of Tori's many injuries, they learn that there aren't a lot of people still free in Pemberwick. SYLO has taken them all. Among the free people is a boy their age named Jon. When Tori heals completely, they take off once again trying to stop SYLO and release the ones that have been captured, which includes Tucker's family.

My favorite character was Jon. He was so confident in who he was and gave Tucker a new friend after Quinn died. Jon seemed to always know what he was talking about as well, and didn't care if other people thought that his interests were weird or different. Jon also was not easily persuaded to do things and stayed true to his morals, even when doing the wrong thing seemed to get faster and better results. Even though some people got annoyed with him, I think that Jon was a pretty loyal ally to the rest of the group.

This book was pretty good. I enjoyed that even in the first few pages, there was a lot of action and I was able to jump right into the story. I also liked that while the first book in the story was very different than this one, there weren't any plot holes that I could see. It was a very well written sequel in my opinion. One thing I didn't love about this book was that it didn't give a lot of extra information as to what the SYLO was. Usually in sequels, the reader finds out more information about the conflict, characters, and story lines. This book didn't really do that. It was still a great story, and I know that there only wasn't much information because of the story's pace, but I still would have liked some more background. Maybe in the next book.

Similarly to SYLO, I would recommend this book to those who enjoy fantasy or sci-fi books. There are many elements of both in this book. Also, it is important that if you are reading this book, you read the first book in the series before hand so you can get information that you need to really understand different aspects of this book.

That's all for today. Right now, I am reading Wandering Star by Romina Russell, so there will be another review up for that one soon.

Love,

Naiya
